Be A Little Sneaky

I’m sure you’ve heard stories about people leaving their keys around the house where an intruder can get to them.  Especially in a nice, neat little “key box” hanging up by the door or in a convenient decorative bowl next to it which is like a candy dish set out for the criminal.  Just hanging out there saying “here ya go, take me”!  I’ve watched several home security type shows where they show this being a common household mistake.  I have also seen it time and time again in homes of my friends and family!

Well, some of us have been wise and have taken an extra measure to have a convenient locked key box on the wall with a keypad, or a nice fireproof safe in our homes for important documents, cash or jewelry.  Hopefully we are keeping them locked as not to defeat the purpose!  Many of these safes are digital.  Therefore, when the battery dies, you need to use a key to open it.  Where are you storing this key?  This is something that has happened to me recently.

Compartment Hidden Diversion Can Safe
Yes, interesting question.  A diversion safe is the perfect place!  They are even weighted to feel full.  There are special made soda or beer cans, spray starch, carpet cleaner, chip, peanut butter, mayo jars, you name it!

When I was in school, my parents used to hide our house key in a diversion safe that looked like a stone.  That diversion safe came in VERY handy many, many times!  It’s a huge convenience and a smart way to keep your valuables safe in places nobody will surmise.  They even make little magnetic ones where you can store a spare car key underneath your car somewhere should you ever lock your keys inside.  My father had one of these on the family car when growing up, and saved us many times!  If the crook who tried prying open our trunk lock when we were at a mall in Indiana had only known!
