Beary Smarts!

What a gorgeous day today. The sky is blue, the grass is green, spring is in the air! Some day before I die, I would like to go camping and hiking. Growing up as a child, we never went, and I’ve never been. I always wanted to be a girl scout, but I lived a rather sheltered life. My husband was in the boy scouts growing up, and he told me all about going camping and spending time with his dad. He was a pack or troop leader, whichever is the proper title.

They learned how to make a campfire, tie knots, and all that fun stuff. He even went camping outside of boy scouting just as little family vacations. It would be nice to also go backpacking/hiking. You see these things on television in movies, and sometimes out of nowhere, they encounter a bear. They are coming out of hibernation now!

You rarely see people use bear spray on them in the movies where people are being mauled and eaten by them, but it is a great product to have with you when you do head out into the wilderness! Most people that have used firearms against a bear have been injured. There has been a greater chance of survival when using bear spray. Not to mention, they are a threatened species. Depending on the brand you get, they can spray anywhere from 15 to 30 feet away.  Guard Alaska ultra hot pepper bear spray has proven so effective repelling bears, it is the only one registered with the EPA as a repellent for ALL SPECIES of bear!

It may or may not work, but under duress, you sure want to give it a shot!
