We Were Drugged!

I just ran into an old friend of mine. She is single, and is one of those friends that you normally only hear from when she doesn’t have a boyfriend around to keep her company. There was one time that she actually did call us kind of spurt of the moment and said that she was going out on a date with this new guy she met. He was a pharmacist, and she felt like she wanted to do a “double date” with him. Well, we said ok, that’s fine and met them in Tampa at a little sports bar where they had a local band playing.

Now, as I’ve mentioned in the past, I don’t normally drink alcoholic beverages simply because they make me tired. As soon as we got there, he volunteered to go get the drinks. For some reason a rum runner just sounded really good that night. Well, I told my husband he could drink the majority of it, because I just wanted a few sips. We’re more energy drink addicts.

After a few sips, I started to feel very strange. I gave the drink to my husband and told him that I am such a light weight, the drink was already hitting me! He was going to have to drink the rest. All of a sudden, I started feeling helpless, and the only way I can describe the way I felt was that it was like my head was in a cloud! My husband started to feel the same way! We were just sitting there like two bumps on a log listening to the band, completely out of the conversation that Angela and David were having! We could see them off to the side just chatting away. We told them we weren’t feeling so well, so I suppose they just figured they’d leave us alone. She left with David, and Rich and I left together. We told them not to worry about us, we’d be just fine.

Now my husband does most of the driving when we go anywhere together. That night, he just handed me the keys and quickly began snoring in the seat next to me! Rich doesn’t snore, nor does he ever sleep in a car! I honestly don’t know how we got home. We didn’t even think to go to a clinic to get tested we were so disillusioned. Rich remembers trying to look at the alarm clock when we got home and he said the time was just bouncing up and down, he couldn’t even make it out! Yes, we were drugged. Not sure if it was the pharmacist who may have been perturbed that Angel wanted to make it a double date…could be coincidence. Now we know from experience to always watch our drinks, and never let anyone else get them for us. We could have died!
